15th Annual Iams Homestead Pioneer Harvest Fest

Set down, shut your eyes and imagine the smell of hot dogs cooking over an open fire; home made chili cooking in a large cast iron pot over an open fire; and all the other smells associated with a perfect autumn day.   Makes you want to go back home and enjoy the sites and sounds of your youth.  You may not be able to go back in time, but you can still experience those joys by joining the Trotwood-Madison Historical Society at their 15th Annual Iams Homestead Pioneer Harvest Fest.  The master chili chefs will be stirring up chili fit for a king; placing it in an open kettle; and cooking it over an open fire.  If you have been to our past harvestfests, you know how good the chili and hotdogs are.

Take a tour of the Iams Homestead Museum and see all the items on display. Don’t miss touring the 1854 barn where you will find antique tools of all kinds, the 1929 Trotwood Trailer, and other display yet to be determined.

For past harvest fests, the Trotwood Fire Department has brought their 1928 Ahrens Fox fire engine and other active fire trucks and rescue equipment. We will have an interactive blacksmith demonstration.   Of course, we will also have the usual displays of antique tractors, cars, husker shredder demonstration; corn harvesting using a corn binder; buzz saw demonstration; hay rides and many other activities too numerous to mention
