City Parade

If you missed the parade today, you missed a good time.  The weather was great and the parade had a lot of in floats and people in the parade.  I suppose I am a little prejudiced but I think the Trotwood-Madison Historical Society float was the best.  Tony Kleinhenz supplied the trailer and Ralph Kuester used his tractor to pull it.  Ralph and Janet Kuester, Regina Kleinhenz, and Linda Keeling decorated the trailer.  Thanks to Regina for coming up with the theme for the float.  She said that since the Society is having the 19th Annual Iams Homestead Pioneer Harvest Fest October 14 we should advertise the event by having a float in the parade.  I must say it is one of the best advertising ideas we have had.

MUSEUM

WHERE: Iams Homestead Museum at 349 S. Broadway, Trotwood, Ohio

TIME: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. or longer if necessary.

TO VIEW WHAT: Displays / Program Relating to Trotwood and Madison Township i.e.: 

1. Madison Township Resident- Rilma Stuckhardt was a school teacher only one year after she graduated from Madison High School in 1916 a dedicated life-long educator she taught until 1964. 

2. A Unique display of Warped Wing Trotwood Lager airplanes, vehicles, trailer and accessories created from Warped Wing’s Trotwood Lager cans made by Former Trotwood’s resident Tom Brown.

3. Early Women’s Fashions…including a vintage swimming suit…a must see.

 4. Tour of 1847 Iams House

WHERE: At our 1200+ year old Bur Oak behind the Iams Barn

RIBBON CUTTING TIME: 3 PM at the Bur Oak Tree

TO VIEW WHAT: The work accomplished by Tree Care Inc.  In maintaining the health of Trotwood’s ODNR certified 2^nd largest Bur Oak Tree in the state of Ohio

Refreshments will be served.

Items Made From Trotwood Lager Beer Cans

ITEMS MADE FROM TROTWOOD LAGER BEER CANS

If visited the Iams Homestead Museum before it closed for the season last year you may have already seen the display of items made by Tom Brown using Trotwood Lager beer cans.  He made these items for Ruth Lang and she displayed them in the museum.  Ruth has made arrangements to loan the items to the library and they will be displayed there through February 28 and possibly longer.

The museum staff is planning a program for the Iams Homestead Museum reopening for the season April 2, 2017.  There will be a program for the reopening and these items will be an exhibit in the museum.  The program will start at 2 PM.  The museum will close at 4 PM.

The museum hours for the season is each Sunday 2PM - 4PM the first Sunday of April through Labor Day weekend.  Come out for the reopening of the Iams Homestead Museum and enjoy the program; tour the museum; and take a walk on the nature trail.
