Spaghetti Dinner

The best desserts in town and spaghetti sauce to die for! It is time for the Annual Trotwood-Madison Historical Society Spaghetti Dinner. The cooks have the ovens going and the Spaghetti Sauce Chefs have dusted off the highly secret recipe for the best spaghetti sauce this side of Italy.
The spaghetti dinner will be held Saturday March 27, 2010 4:30 – 7:30 PM at the Church of the Brethren, 208 East Main Street, Trotwood, Ohio.
Just what will this outstanding dinner cost you? I am proud to say that inflation has not caused us to increase our costs. The cost is: Adults - $7.00 and Children under 12 - $3.50. Dinner includes spaghetti, bread, salads, desserts and beverage.

All profits from the dinner will go to Iams Homestead Preservation Fund.
Please call Regina Kleinhenz ( 854-4505) for ticket information.

Flea-N-Tique Show

The Keelings and the Kuesters decided to set up a booth for the Trotwood-Madison Historical Society at the Flea-N-Tique Show, Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum. Although it was snowing and the weather conditions were deplorable, we sat up for the show. Hopefully, the weather will not keep people from coming. If you are in the area, please stop by booth 28 and shop and visit with Linda and Janet. They will be there Saturday 9am -5pm and Sunday 10am-4pm. Come out and support your historical society.

1929 Trotwood Trailer Update

OUR NEW TRAILER CANVAS TOP
If you were at the harvestfest last year and really looked at our trailer, you would have found it in very bad condition. We had decided that we would not display the trailer again until it was repaired. The canvas was so rotten that every time we set it up more tears would appear.

We located a local company, Gilman Canvas Products, who said that they could make us a new canvas top for the trailer. We had left the trailer set up in the barn after the harvest fest last year so that we could get estimates for replacement of the top if we could find a local company. Gilman looked at the trailer and said they could make us a new top.

We took the trailer to Gilman Monday, February 1, and they had the top replaced by Friday February 5. The trailer is still in their shop and will remain there until the weather clears and we can take the trailer back to the Iams Homestead.

As you can see from both views--inside and outside--they did an outstanding job making a new top for us. The trailer should be good for another 80 years.

Mark your calendar for October 9, 2010, the day of the next harvest fest. The trailer will once again be a feature display. Bring your camera and come out and take pictures. I think you will be very happy with the results.

Flea-N-Tique Update

We finished our set-up this morning and we are having many shoppers stop by to look at the booth. The booth looks great and we have received many compliments on how well it is displayed. Hopefully, it will be a good day for us.

Took another stroll through the show and found some items to buy. I can not go into the show without buying something. I have my eye on some tools that if they are still there tomorrow, I may buy. I have included a new slide show.

Flea-N-Tique Show

The Trotwood-Madison Historical Society has a booth in the Flea-N-Tique Show at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. This is our first year to set up at the show and we have many items for sale.

The Flea-N-Tique is a Flea Market and an Antique shoe. It is held at the Montgomery Fairgrounds Coliseum Building, 1043 South Main Street, Dayton, Ohio. There are many booths there with a lot of unique antiques and collectibles. In fact, I bought an antique toy for our granddaughter tonight and have located an old vintage kitchen tool used to remove jars from a canner that I hope to buy tomorrow.

Admission to the coliseum building is $1.00, but, it is well worth the cost to visit even if you do not purchase anything. It is always a lot of fun to look at the antiques--many of the items I have seen in some of the museums that we visit. Admission to the coliseum is cheaper than admission to a museum and you can buy the items that you like which you usually cannot do in a museum.

Come out and support your Historical Society. Visit the show and stop by our booth. Linda and Janet will be glad to see you.

Kris Kringle Shop

Once again the Kris Kringle Shop operated by the Trotwood-Madison Historical Society is open for business. This is a fantastic little shop that has something for everyone--toys, dishes, dolls, villages, silverware, crystal, etc. There is too mush to try to list all of the items on sale. However, if you view the slide show, you can see more of what we have to offer.

The shop will be open December 3-5 and December 10-12 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Come out and find that one of a kind gift at a fantastic price. You will be glad you did.
